Meaning of environment- The word environment is mainly made up of two words, para + cover = environment. Pari means all around and cover means covered i.e. that which surrounds us from all sides. The environment that surrounds us from all sides is called the environment.
Types of Environment- The environment is divided into three parts which are as follows.
1. Natural Environment- Under this, all the organic and inorganic elements are included which are found naturally on this earth, in the organic elements all living beings, trees, and plants are seen. All these are especially present in the environment, inorganic elements include all the gases present in the atmosphere, water, fire, energy, temperature, air, and soil, all these elements are naturally present in the earth. 2. Man-made Environment- All those things are included in a man-made environment, which is made by the man himself. Importance of environment- The environment has great importance in our life, life on earth is possible only through the environment, if we are alive today then the environment has a big hand in it. A good and clean environment helps us to live a better life.
You know, when we inhale we take in oxygen and when we exhale we exhale carbon dioxide. But have you ever thought about where we get the oxygen we take? We get this oxygen from trees and plants and all these trees and plants are part of our environment.
Measures for environmental protection- The environment provides us with all the necessary things like air, water, light, land, fire, trees, plants, natural vegetation, etc. to live life. Indiscriminate felling of trees should be banned. Vehicles should be used only at the time of extreme need. Strict laws should be made for the disposal of contaminated and toxic substances. Awareness should be spread to make people understand the importance of the environment.
World Environment Day – This day declared by the United Nations is celebrated to bring political and social awareness towards the environment at the global level. It began in 1972 with the World Environment Conference organized by the United Nations General Assembly from June 5 to June 16. The first World Environment Day was celebrated on 5 June 1973.
